All Subscribers: This Month’s Idea Index (Live)
Wednesday 1800 GMT: The Singularity of Now
Dear Practitioners,
This week I’m taking a slightly different approach.
Instead of publishing the Idea Index in its usual written form, I’ll be running it as a live-streamed lecture, and I hope you’ll join me for the Q&A. It will later be formalised into a full written Idea Index note as well.
The focus is The Singularity of Now: a first-principles look at where traders actually monetise their activity, and how many learners—and even former performers—drift away from this area over time. That drift tends to sit behind many recurring problems, and in some cases entrenched failure.
This session is open to all subscribers, as the Idea Index remains so—our open-air R&D department.
Wednesday, 6pm GMT
Live whiteboard lecture & Q&A
Q&A will take place via Substack’s live stream chat.
For those who’d like a little more detail, read on.
I’m inviting you to join me for a live lecture and discussion, hosted kindly by Axia Futures / Axia Trading Group, in their London training room.
I’ll be on the whiteboard, live, this Wednesday at 6pm. GMT.
This Idea Index lends itself particularly well to diagrams, structure, and real-time explanation. Doing it live allows me to teach the idea properly—and, just as importantly, to be questioned on it as it forms.
What this session is
The Idea Index is fully open to all subscribers. It functions as Asymmetrist’s open R&D space: experimental notes, first-principle thinking, and early articulations that may later become more formal work.
Past Idea Index entries have already evolved into full series (for example, Minimum Viable Trader then forked and formalised into the ‘The Counter Intuitive Shape of Trader Development’ series. ). This session follows that same lineage—but earlier, and in public.
I’m treating this as the first lecture on a topic called:
The Singularity of Now
I believe this is a critical articulation of where performing traders — of all stripes — actually monetise their activity. Confusing or ignoring this layer is what prevents many novice and struggling traders from breaking through. It sits at the centre of several recurring failure modes.
One such failure is already explored in the ongoing series When Tools Become the World, particularly in Part II(b): Trading in a Snow Globe—a breakdown that often emerges when tools become mistaken for the market itself.
The Singularity of Now emerged from that work, but I’ve since come to see it as applicable across far more contexts. That’s why it belongs at the core of the Idea Index.
Why do this live?
Putting it into a live setting creates a tight feedback loop:
I present > you interrogate > the idea sharpens, and more emerges.
You get access to the thinking before it settles into a finished article, and I get the pressure test that only real questions provide. I think that’s valuable on both sides.
Like the Idea Index as a whole, this more experimental accumulation of notes allows you to fork the ideas for your own purposes.
Practical details
Live stream: Wednesday, 6pm GMT
Format: Whiteboard lecture & live chat Q&A
Recording: A full replay will be available
Follow-up: The written Idea Index will still be finalised and published afterwards
If you can’t make it live, you’ll still be able to engage with both the visual and the written versions. But if you can attend, I’d strongly encourage you to do so—the live questioning is the magic!
I hope to see you then.
Good trading to you all,
Bogdan
