You agree to the terms of service below, and the Terms of Use for Substack, the technology provider.

Terms of Service

Effective Date: 22 October 2024

Updated: 21 January 2026

Welcome to Asymmetrist, a digital publication operated by Axia Editions Limited (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a UK-registered company (Company No. 15889065), located at 4 Endsleigh Street, London, WC1H 0DS. By accessing www.asymmetrist.com or subscribing to our newsletter via asymmetrist.substack.com, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Use of the Website and Newsletter

By accessing our site or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to use our services for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes only.

You must not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our content without permission

  • Upload malware, spam, or abuse platform functionality

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or impersonate others

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any misuse, including fraudulent sign-ups or violations of these terms.

2. Intellectual Property Rights

All content published by Asymmetrist, including text, articles, images, logos, and branding, is the property of Axia Editions Limited or its contributors.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to view and access content for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce or republish content without explicit written permission.

For republishing requests, see our Copyright & Republishing Policy.

If you submit feedback or comments, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use or adapt that material.

3. Newsletter Subscriptions

By subscribing, you consent to receive:

  • Editorial newsletters, updates, and features

  • Occasionally sponsored or promotional content (clearly marked)

You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email or by managing your preferences through Substack.

Our newsletter is delivered via Substack, which acts as a data processor under the UK GDPR. Substack uses Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the UK Addendum to safeguard data transfers outside the UK.

4. Payments and Paid Content

We may introduce:

  • Paid subscriptions or premium content

  • Sponsored editorial content (clearly disclosed)

  • Affiliate links (disclosed according to UK advertising standards)

All payments are securely processed by third-party payment providers, including Substack and its payment partners. We do not store or process your payment details directly. Refunds are subject to the terms of the relevant payment provider.

The following clarifications apply where paid subscriptions are offered:

a. Billing and renewal

Paid subscriptions may be billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) and renew automatically unless cancelled.

b. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Substack account settings or, where applicable, through the platform used to purchase the subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again after cancellation.

c. Refunds

Because paid subscriptions provide immediate access to digital content, payments are generally non-refundable once access has been granted. Refund requests may be considered in cases of error (such as duplicate charges) and are handled in accordance with Substack’s, Stripe’s, or other applicable payment-provider policies.

d. Payment disputes

If a payment is disputed through a bank, card issuer, or app-store provider, the dispute will be handled under that provider’s standard dispute-resolution process.

e. Platform and payment separation

If Asymmetrist changes its publishing, hosting, or newsletter delivery platform, subscriber account information (such as name, email address, and subscription status) may be transferred to a new provider to ensure continuity of service. Payment details are not transferred as part of any platform migration and remain with the original payment provider.

f. App-store and Apple payments

Some subscriptions may be purchased through third-party app stores or payment systems (including Apple’s in-app purchase system). In such cases, billing, cancellation, and refund handling are governed by the policies of the relevant provider, and subscriptions must be managed through that provider’s account settings.

5. Community Features and Conduct

Asymmetrist may offer interactive features, including livestreams, live chat, comments, or other community or discussion spaces.

By participating in these features, you agree to engage respectfully and lawfully. Harassment, abuse, disruption, or conduct that interferes with the experience of others is not permitted.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to restrict, suspend, or terminate a user’s ability to participate in community features, or to terminate a subscription entirely, where conduct is deemed disruptive or inappropriate. No refunds will be provided in such circumstances.

6. Third-Party Services

We may include links to or embed third-party services (e.g., YouTube, social media, or external articles). These are provided for convenience.

We are not responsible for third-party content, data collection, or service performance. Your interaction with these services is at your own discretion and risk.

7. Analytics and Cookies

We use Google Analytics and Substack’s internal tools to measure reader engagement. These tools may rely on cookies or similar technologies.

Cookie consent is managed via Substack’s banner in line with UK regulations. Please see our Privacy Policy and Substack’s Privacy Policy for more information.

8. Data Protection and Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which outlines:

  • what we collect (name, email address)

  • why we collect it (newsletter delivery, usage insights)

  • how you can access, update, or delete your data

Substack processes your data on our behalf and applies security, transfer, and privacy safeguards.

9. Support and Assistance

For support relating to paid subscriptions, email delivery, access to content, billing, refunds, livestreams, or community features, please refer to our Support page, which provides the most up-to-date guidance and contact routes.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Axia Editions Limited shall not be liable for:

  • any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses

  • interruptions to service availability or third-party platform outages

  • errors in published material or outdated links

We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or where otherwise prohibited by law.

11. Service Availability

We strive to ensure continuous access to our services but cannot guarantee uptime. Downtime may occur due to maintenance, third-party failures, or circumstances beyond our control.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms to reflect:

  • new features, payment models, or partnerships

  • platform changes (e.g. Substack functionality)

  • legal or regulatory updates

When changes are material, we will notify users via email and/or website banners with at least 14 days’ notice.

Your continued use of our services after such notice constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
